Yesterday I decided to try Acrylics again. I just had to paint this vibrant red flower that was in my head. Playing with shapes, relationships, composition and color. I'm not sure the yellow house on the left works as well as I'd like - it seems to call too much attention to itself somehow. This is based on yesterday's painting. When I cropped it for a little "tease" on my facebook page I decided I liked the way it looked cropped tighter, so that's what I went for today. Trying to simplify, working with shapes, colors, relationships, composition. I wondered if it needs some sort of a door/window shape on the barn wall on the right side. The Decatur Area Arts Council designed, printed and distributed 1000 postcards for our exhibit, announced it in their 4000 mailing newsletter, on radio and TV. We were even interviewed by James Vorel for the Herald & Review, a local paper in Decatur about our upcoming exhibit! Decatur is about 180 miles southwest of Chicago, 45 miles east of Springfield, and about 800 miles west of Milford.

It's early in the morning here in Richmond. The sun has just come up. Everyone is sleeping but me. We're having fun visiting with Chris and Kyla. Picked up our "painted pottery" yesterday. The last time we were here we went to "All Fired Up" on Cary Street, downtown - one of those places that have the raw pottery and the paints and when you are done, they fire it and you go back a couple weeks
